LE VIEUX PRESBYTERE

Holiday accommodation in Gascony
South West France

Beautiful 17thC colombage presbyterie, now a comfortable family home

Set in the golden triangle of Armagnac country in the Gers, South West France, Le Vieux Presbytère nestles into the hillside on the edge of the hamlet of Noulens. The sleepy village is surrounded by vineyards, fields of sunflowers and maize and has magnificent views reaching to the Pyrenees . Capture the magic by staying in one of the Presbytère’s two self-contained holiday gîtes. La Mouette (sleeps 6) and L’Hérisson (sleeps 4), with their open plan style, modern amenities and spacious mezzanine bedrooms, more resemble stylish apartments with French country charm. Perfect for couples, or families on holiday or people house hunting, the gîtes have west facing sunset balconies and are a step away from the secure salt-water swimming pool. Bed and breakfast is offered in L’Atelier adjoining the main house; a beautifully converted bedroom with luxurious bathroom, private entrance and views over the pool and garden.

The salt water pool, 10x4m & depth 1.5m throughout, has the most silky smooth water, much less harmful to skin and hair This is the Gers department of France where people are friendly and live longer! Endowed with the good, simple things of life; the clear, unpolluted skies, uncluttered roads, the temperate climate and the variety of fresh country produce found in the daily village markets. The area is renowned for its duck, foie gras and armagnac and provides a myriad of festivals from jazz, salsa and country and western to medieval markets, bullfighting and horse racing

Noulens is a farming community so the only sounds come from tractors, abundant wild life and the church clock which, (mercifully!) only chimes from 7am to 9pm . This is rural France at its best with long summers, warm spring and autumn days and crisp winters. Unspoilt and uncrowded the Gers has a French charm all of its own.
